Dawning my tinfoil hat: I think China released COVID as means for population control. A communist country with billions of people to feed is a problem and the old and infirm who are unproductive are more likely to die.
I think China was trying to come up with a vaccine before releasing it and it escaped. This strategy sounds good until you realize that Russia is right next door and they won’t be happy if their people start dying.
