Actually this is an experimental test case: The DOT see no reason that Freedom Loving Democrats driving speed be limited and will become variable depending on their contributions to the Party. Platinum Democrats will have no restrictions; Gold will be limited to 100 MPH, and Silver are allowed to cruise at 85 MPH.
Republicans restrictions are as follows: RINOs are allowed to drive at the posted speed, Conservatives will be allowed to travel at the posted speed for trucks, and MAGA Republicans will be banned from driving altogether.
“Can you say speed trap? I knew you could”.
Virginia has some of the worst, shall we call them, paved roads on the east coast.
I hate the way people use acceleration lanes nowadays. They don’t use them to actually accelerate.
I was once behind someone who actually accelerated way faster to beat a yellow light than they did to merge onto the highway.
301 in Virginia runs straight from Dahlgren (Maryland border) to Richmond, then parallels I-95 to North Carolina.
Virginia is actually starting to widen I-81 between Roanoke and Salem.
You must have never driven over old rickety, better known as the US 301 bridge over the Potomac. A real white knuckler.
I sometimes get stuck behind an old fart who follows the imaginary variable speed limit signs in his or her head. Posted 45 means going 50, then 25, then 38, then back to 25, then to 40. Anything except 45. Not because of curves or road hazards or anticipation of turning off or anything really. Just random roadtardery.
Well, at that rate, they should be done widening the rest of I-81 sometime in the next 1000 years.
I haven’t seen any of it lately, but for a while every other year or so would be a press release from VDOT about how some study (that they likely paid for...) said that they’re among the best-run DOTs in the entire country.
