Have lived in Japan since 1985 . Was a sumo fan when living in the Tokyo area until 1995 . Went to the Kokugikan once with a Japanese friend . Saw Chionofuji - one of the greats . Anyway , lost interest after moving to my wife’s hometown in Kumamoto where I taught JHS . Anyway , now living in Kumamoto City . Started watching sumo again in March and did watch the most recent tournament on TV with the wife . Very exciting finish . Congrats to Terunofuji !

I can't seem to find a picture of him with a sea bream celebrating his basho win, so here one of him celebrating his elevation to ozeki rank.. Terunofuji holds up two sea bream, which represent an auspicious occasion, after officially being promoted to sumo's second-highest ozeki rank on Wednesday at Isegahama stable in Tokyo's Koto ward. | POOL / VIA KYODO
