I know of a guy who installed 480/3 phase power into his house to power a huge industrial lathe that he had in his garage. They had to install a special line to his house. I have no idea what that cost him, but I’m sure it wasn’t cheap.

A friend of mine here in NM installed 220 3-phase at his business to operate a slab saw for fabricating countertops. The cost was a little north of $4k turn key. The 3-phase powerline was directly across the street BTW. If 3-phase power is not readily available close by, the power company will charge you to bring it in.

Around here this year, the impact fee for installation as about 2K for 200 amp, 6K for 400 amp, and 30K for 3 phase.
