That may or may not be true, I don’t know. I do know, however, that the USSR’s brutal excesses are routinely downplayed by Americans on the left. The wearing of the hammer and sickle, the proud display of of Soviet posters (I realize they are visually interesting, but so are Nazi posters) even the statue of Lenin in Seattle is OK. The swastika (even the eastern one often seen in Japan) is not.

I find it interesting too that there has been a large cross erected to commemorate the victims. Here there would be lawsuits demanding the cross’s removal. Biden manages to announce a day of prayer without mentioning God.
