I pretty clear on the ‘deceiving’ part, but a little foggy on the ‘true’ part.

What am I missing?

20,000 seems way different than 150.

Yes. It’s poorly written, but I used it anyway because of the novelty of NYT criticizing CDC.

150 attacks is ‘fewer than 20,000’
Ridiculously fewer than 20K.
Myeah, that’s the point they’re making. They could have just stuck with The CDC lied, and this just in, water is wet.
