Some of them will get out ok. Others will deal with the consequences.

Hopefully, all the Republicans in the area are already packing and moving to a Red State.

This whole section 8 and affordable housing issue reminds me of vagrancy law of the olden days. Somehow rather than jailing vagrants “they” feel it is more Christian, or cheaper, to cater to their unwillingness to pay their own way, and want to lump them in with those who are forced to carry their own burden, that of those coddling the vagrants, and the vagrants themselves. In the olden days say around the thirties, it was people who wanted to work generally, but due to the economy were unable to find work.

Drugs, mental incapacity and a supporting welfare state were generally unheard of back in the day. That is an obvious change in the world of today, and those are now the folks that “they” desire to inflict on the general population that want nothing to do with those unable or unwilling to work because of their habits that make regular work a near impossibility. Finding correct affordable solutions in today’s political climate might also be a bridge too far. Haven’t seen anything approaching a solution, that appears viable. Constant welfare, and programs to continue support for the indigent get you more indigent not fewer.

Around my area construction companies are more than willing to jump into the affordable housing market, as they aren’t the ones being asked to carry the load long term. What should a city do with hundreds if not thousands of people generally incapable of contributing to the community in any meaningful way and probably breaking numerous laws along the way, in an environment where law breaking is good and law enforcement is bad? Jail, that’s racist.

The Marxists in Connecticut are trying that in the upper income towns. The towns have zonings of 2 acres of more, but the Marxists want to get it down to 1/2 acre. Greenwich has a poor section, the homes goes for 250k... 😀

That poor section is where all the help lives.

And then go to every affluent, liberal, WHITE locale in the country and they’re all the same.

The chorus of NIMBY will be heard around the world.

Piedmont is entirely surrounded by Oakland. You have to go through Oakland to get to Berkeley from Piedmont.

Sorry, I was confusing Piedmont with Claremont.
