The contenders who hope to win this week's 103rd PGA Championship at Kiawah Island had better hope their big sticks are ready.
The Ocean Course will measure a whopping 7,876 yards, making it the longest course to ever host one of professional golf's four majors.
Rory McIlroy won the previous PGA Championship played there, in 2012, running away with an 8-shot victory, the widest margin in the event's history. After winning the Wells Fargo Championship two weeks ago, McIlroy is once again among the favorites.
Another big storyline: Jordan Spieth, who has resurrected his career this season after a long slump, will try to become just the sixth player in history to complete the career Grand Slam.
Two of the world's best players, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson, limp into the second major of the season with nagging knee injuries.

I’m gonna be completely honest here. I have no shot.
Me either. I don’t even golf.
almost 7900 yards at sea level with an ocean wind. Thats going to be brutal...
I do, but my 250 yard drives won’t even reach the fairway at Kiawah.
The golf course looks very beautiful. It will be interesting to see if they use drones to get lots of overhead views which include the ocean.
Pushing 8,000...
I would love Ricky to get it together. My other favorite is Tony Finau. Altho not an American I like Tommy Fleetwood. And of course Phil. Spieth is on my list as well.
I love the Majors.
ABDC
Anybody But DeChambeau.
My old knee injury 'n that. Oh, and the eight-iron to the head just a season or two ago. I swear they came in when I left the key in the hotel door.
Never saw either one before or since, I swear!
Somehow they each had an eight-iron too...sheesh.
I lived on a golf course and didn’t golf but it was fun watching people try.
Still have a load of balls ended up in my yard and pool all different kinds and logos.
I don't believe that DeChambeau's length is going to be a significant asset at this course.
Yeah, I’d be laying 2 in the tee box.
Jimmy Walker
Jason Dufner

Padraig Harrington

Lost two balls in the sand trap. Stepped on a rake.
Me too. But Ricky seems to be really struggling. Maybe he should cut down on the commercials and practice more.
I love the majors too.
I just don't think Phil can do it for four rounds anymore. Witness a couple of weeks ago where he opened with a 64 but had three over-par rounds after that. Yes I would love to see him break through and get one more regular tour win but a lot of things have to come together for that to happen. He is playing The Open in June. Five runner-up finishes in the US Open... hey, Sam Snead never won it either.
Tiger Woods is likely to miss the cut, this time. :)
I have no shot. This event is discriminatory.
