I was almost tricked some years ago. This was in reference to the IRS. When the caller kept asking me for more and more date, I didn’t feel good about it, so I just hung up. I figure the real IRS already has that info.
Sometimes I’ll get a call with no ID. The phone itself will label this number as “Scam Likely”. I take the hint and just don’t answer.
Since I will soon be 65, I’m getting a ton of unsolicited calls wanting to advise me on MediCare.
I can usually hear other Cold Callers chatting in the background, usually in Tagalog dialect.
Before I even say ‘hello’, I hang up when I hear that.
If I need to decide on Medicare A or B, I’ll talk to the health department myself.
The IRS will never contact you via telephone. It is always via mail.
The real IRS never makes first contact about an issue by phone or email. They only use snail mail. So, ANY phone call claiming to be IRS is a scam.

I get those calls all the time, usually when I'm driving home. All they hear from me is [click]
The IRS will *never* initiate a call to you about a tax matter. The IRS will call back if you initiate a call to them about a tax matter and request that it do so. The preferred method of communication between the IRS and taxpayer is snail mail. I know this by painful experience, which was finally resolved in my favor.

I’m, 75 and here to tell you, they never stop. I get mostly by mail. Legit companies but they never let up.
When I turned 49 I started getting junk from AARP, they never stop either.
I don’t get spam by phone because I don’t have a phone, neither land line nor cell.
