i use a table top belt sander- very carefully, so as not to heat blade up- slowly- then use a stropping leather on the sander to give it razor edge- like the following but diff company, can’t remember name now- it’s down in the cellar- too lazy to go check lol

https://www.amazon.com/RIKON-Power-Tools-50-151-Sander/dp/B00WE6373A/ref=sr_1_38?crid=3FTU3IQJTHN0N&dchild=1&keywords=knife+sharpener+belt+sander&qid=1621397814&sprefix=knife+sharpen+belt%2Caps%2C331&sr=8-38

I’ve tried all kinds of different sharpeners- nothing does as quick and good a job as the belt sander- the ken onion is along the same line- but smaller- and i think it has variable speed too? which would be nice o n the belt sander model i use- The leather stropping belt is awesome- puts a mirror finish on blade edge-

Yes it is variable speed. The Ken Onion uses 5 different graduated grits and also sharpens one side of the blade on the upstroke, the other on the down stroke.

I, also use a strop as a final finish to bring it to shaving sharp.
