A 79-year-old woman turned herself in to authorities Monday and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of filing fraudulent insurance claims and uttering forged instruments.
Jail records showed Daisy Mae Williams was being held in lieu of a $22,000 bond, but the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office said she would be released on her own recognizance after she attends her bond hearing.

The optics are bad, as she is an old black lady who moves around on a walker.
I do know we have a REAL PROBLEM with insurance rates, especially homeowner insurance rates in Florida. The rates are going through the roof because of the sleazy lawyers who advertise on tv, radio, billboards promising people TONS OF MONEY if they sue the insurance companies....
Insurance companies are reacting by raising rates.
Governor DeSantis and the Republicans in the legislator are working to pass laws (I think one of them may already have passed) that LIMIT how much lawyers can get their hands into the insurance pie.
Anyway, this APPEARS to ME to be a strange coincidence that the MEDIA would just HAPPEN to show up for some old lady getting charged with a crime....a "white collar" crime like insurance fraud.

She is obviously in poor health. I’ve seen people near 90 who looked better. Probably long term diabetes.
I have heard of many senior citizens in China who will purposely break the law in order to get a place to stay with meals. Even robbing Banks. Less families there are taking care of their senior relations. Same is likely happening in this country too.
Insurance companies have very very deep pockets.
