This has been going on for a while. I remember learning how to make change properly back in the 80s when I was in elementary school. Once calculators became the norm, critical math skills went out the window.

Besides figuring things out in your head, we were taught how to do math on an abacus when I was in grammar school back in the early 50’s.

Geez I am old enough to remember a time when the kid at the register in MickeyD’s actually had to had to add up the bill before making change and could usually do it in his head. Of course the numbers were smaller back then. A hamburger fries and milkshake was something like 47 cents. It is sad really what has happened to education in this country. But of course we all know the real problem is math is racist right?
