My road trip back to reality

An up-close-and-personal look at the difference between Maryland and Texas.

Road trips often elicit thoughts and memories of quirky roadside attractions, local food, postcards, and long hours behind the wheel. A recent trip from my home in Maryland to Texas, for a nephew's wedding, was just the excuse my wife and I needed to create some of these road trip memories for our family of five. Our trip didn't disappoint as we visited family and famous attractions: the Parthenon in Nashville; a Civil War museum and battlefield in New Market, Va.; and Buc-ee's in Texas.

I couldn't help but notice the striking difference between the two different worlds we encountered along the way.

Unlike the state of Maryland, Texas has many citizens focused on freedom of action and thought. Everyone we encountered at the wedding was unafraid of COVID and exhibited independence and self-reliance in personal matters. These people were staunchly against the government telling them what they could and couldn't do.

Upon our return to Maryland, despite the governor lifting the mask mandate, my wife heard a local man at the grocery store explain to another shopper that he would keep wearing his mask until someone explicitly told him it was safe and proper not to.

These are two very different mindsets: personal independence versus dependence. People who look to themselves for solutions first and those who look to the government for answers.

Do democRATS have explicit government approval to go to the bathroom, to breathe,... Then they should stop!

Buc-ee’s!!!!!!!!

I am from East Texas and every trip through there every single member of my family HAS to stop at Buc-ee’s.

The amount of beaver memorabilia around my house is staggering.

I look at the people wearing masks and ask myself, what are they afraid of?

They can keep wearing masks, it tells me who the stupid sheeple are.

I agree in general with the writer

But he’s a coward still

Lacks balls to point out Memphis and West Memphis issues are demographics

Claims democrat urban areas are blighted

Well Nashville sure as shit isn’t ....and it’s almost completely liberal council members now and while I detest their views no question Nashville is robust

The mask tell is striking though

Leftists are obedient to government

Conservatives are obedient to law

Two different mindsets

The only plus is evading facial recognition. Good oversized ball cap, too large sunglasses, you can even put on ski goggles and if anyone asks just tell them you are afraid of getting the Rona.

Just Saturday I saw a guy riding a motorcycle without a helmet but with a mask on. He looked like part of a Monty Python skit.

My brother delivers large trucks all over the country. He went to a Buc ees for the 1st time last week. He said the sandwich was one of the best he’d ever eaten. He said the place was amazing.

Next up: Wearing our underwear on the outside so the Underwear Police can see if it's clean.

Violators will be subjected to ‘’wedgies’’.

Yep. Despite Costco, Walmart, and other grocery stores lifting their mask requirements; I’ve seen way too many sheep wearing masks in those places over the last few days.
Alaska isn’t nearly as reliably red as many assume.

Just got back from the Food Lion. I was the only one in there without a mask. One lady gave me the stink eye.

The local giant didn’t have the sign up so i didn’t put my mask on. No one said a thing. but i put it on to ask the baker where the alvarado was as i wanted the bread. She got a loaf told me where it was and took her mask off while talking to me. I left the mask on to check out but will leave it off completely next time. It was great, finally and PA may vote to get rid of Wolf’s crap today. Going to jersey shore tho where last year i didn’t wear a mask except to go to a restaurant. Hopefully it will be better this year.

When we moved to Maryland from Michigan in 2010, we noticed the same thing. Lemmings here are so completely used to government interference in virtually every aspect of their lives and many are clueless about what freedom and liberty really means.

We see it clearly in their sheep like behavior with COVID. Oh, Almighty Governor, please grace us with your wisdom and guidance.

At Home Depot on Sunday, I was the only one without a mask.

Here’s another one. While the media says only vaccinated people may be unmasked, the almighty Governor’s actual “order” says nothing about vaccine status, yet he’s free to let the lie continue.

I did my part and informed a fairly large talk radio audience about this yesterday.

Good, get the information out. The vaccinated should not care about what unvaccinated people do since they are supposed to be immune, right?

Yeah, there was a worker wearing a mask at Costco that was very happily having a conversation with another lady, laughing and all that. Then she left her and looked at me with the stank eye too. Oh well. Her problem!
