They are called “Democrats”, don’t give idiots a bad name.
The problem is that it won’t hurt the bigger stars and celebrities that are constantly puking out libtard garbage. They have their money and will just do TV and movies. It’s the backstage support, vendors, and working class that gets the shaft. Of course they chose to live and work in NY so maybe their eyes will be opened to the disease that is liberalism.
I remember a time (not long ago!) when the homeless, in NYC, would leave you alone, or...at the very least, be polite when panhandling.
Those days are gone.
They’ve been zombiefied and seriously don’t give a flip if you live, or die, or what they do to you.
We’ve taken the 7 to see a Mets game. (Have also taken the subway to see a Yankees game.) We wouldn’t do that, anymore.
Another problem I can see, is with so many shows opening at once, will all be profitable/successful?
Of the people who normally go to Broadway plays, certainly not all will go to see 23 new plays in, say a two week period, when the financial types will be measuring ticket sales and attendance. The business end of many plays will likely show losses, because you won’t get a full socially distanced house at that many new plays opening at once.
Not just Broadway.
I’ve heard that major metro area theatres are not having the renewals they used to have (BCV - before china virus).
ah yes, the 7 train. That’s the one that baseball player John Rocker was crucified over his comments about the people on that train.
Old Yuck shCity is probably getting clobbered by the loss of tourism dollars.
I remember being in Manhattan summer of 2018 and the streets were crowded and bustling with people and foreigners galore. Even the scum leftards benefit when a sane patriotic President is in office.
They need to return to the timeless spiritual, meaningful reasons why people are attracted to music and theater in the first place.
in 2019, Broadway was about extracting maximum tourist money with crappy and simplistic remakes of cartoons and distorting old stories and archetypes for political reasons.
Ditto the regional theaters.
Our theater is the Barter Theater. Productions are now streaming from your computer or on Saturday night at ....... a very old Drive In Theater
Don't mind the maggots.
Theater (like opera, the symphony and professional dance) has long been supported by an older, wealthy audience. Nothing new or different there.
And Broadway shows often don’t need to make money on Broadway, but rather just be legitimized as being “Broadway shows” there. Then years of global tours, etc., are where the cash most flows in.
Plus, as the governor stated almost two weeks ago, when they reopen in September it will be to full capacity: https://abcnews.go.com/US/broadway-york-theater-scene-turns-lights-back-september/story?id=77508117#:~:text=long%2Dawaited%20comeback.-,New%20York%20Gov.,capacity%2C%20according%20to%20the%20governor.
Can this uninformed thumbsucker please stop writing such misinformation?
I’m a musical theater geek and I’m so glad I saw shows on Broadway in the past. I don’t see theater or NYC coming back in my lifetime.
I could be wrong, but I think the left destroyed it as they have so many things that were once enjoyable.
They were true but crude. The gag about the 7 train was if you wanted a seat just yell “La Migra” and everyone would run.
Until Nancy throws more of our tax dollars to them.

Heyo! SONGLYRICS just got interactive. Highlight. Review: RIFF-it.
RIFF-it good.
Listen while you read!
I’ve seen the lights go out on Broadway-
I saw the Empire State laid low.
And life went on beyond the Palisades,
They all bought bright Cadillacs-
And left there long ago.
We held a concert out in Brooklyn-
To watch the Island bridges blow.
They turned our power down,
And drove us underground-
But we went right on with the show...
I’ve seen the lights go out on Broadway-
I saw the ruins at my feet,
You know we almost didn’t notice it-
We’d see it all the time on Forty-Second Street.
They burned the churches up in Harlem-
Like in that Spanish Civil War-
The flames were everywhere,
But no one really cared-
It always burned up there before....
I saw the lights go out on Broadway-
I watched the mighty skyline fall.
The boats were waiting at the Battery,
The union went on strike-
They never sailed at all.
They sent a carrier out from Norfolk-
And picked the Yankees up for free.
They said that Queens could stay,
They blew the Bronx away-
And sank Manhattan out to sea....
You know those lights were bright on Broadway-
But that was so many years ago...
Before we all lived here in Florida-
Before the Mafia took over Mexico.
There are not many who remember-
They say a handful still survive...
To tell the world about...
The way the lights went out,
And keep the memory alive....

They will create a hundred Batmans.
Shadoobie!
Yeah, it has been spiralling down to just what you describe on one hand and heavy-handed Marxist moral screeds on the other, for a few decades now. But can still ne a special experience and has gone up and down in quality for a long time now.
Limited attendance, social distancing and proof of vaccination. What, the vaccination does not work?
When I think of Broadway Theater, I think of the hostility and arrogance of the crew of Hamilton. They didn’t care if conservatives hated them and preferred that pro-Trump people stayed away
Why should I care about them now?
Will they offer an apology or voice support for conservatives?
