Too often too many prosecutors think their job is “get a conviction” with less emphasis on being dam sure of guilt, beyond a reasonable doubt, about the evidence. I disagree with the philosophy that “justice” is absent in what the prosecutors seek - its not their job; that is the job of the judges and juries. While I agree that in the final sense, yes, it is eventually left to judges and juries, but before it gets to the judge and jury prosecutors ought not be seeking convictions just for the sake of getting a conviction, no matter what. I would rather see prosecutors fail to prosecute when they themselves doubt the evidence is immaculate and convincing.

That is so true.
It seems many judges, line prosecutors and DA’s seem to have forgotten that their job is to see that JUSTICE is done, not that they win the case.

Stories like this are why I'm against the death penalty. Philosophically I agree with it, but as a practical matter, it's just another government program gone wrong.

And you're right - prosecutors don't give a D@MN about your guilt or innocence. It's all about their record of convictions, designed to get them to the next step on the political ladder.
