Normally I’d agree with you, but might have some big pluses:
1. Conversion efficiency — 90%
2. Speed — one hour
3. Low temperature — 430 F

Of course, problems remain:
1. What is the magic catalyst?
2. Do the plastics need to be separated by type?
3. Collection of used plastics is a highly distributed nightmare process.

They say “ruthenium on carbon catalyst and a commonly-used (unnamed) solvent”. Ruthenium’s price has jumped recently to $650 per troy ounce (or $9,478.95/lb).
