Most of the world runs on superstition. Other than the western Christian nations (defined by their original faith, not necessarily by their fallen state today), and those nations that absorbed some form of Christianity through colonization, pretty much the rest of the world worships ridiculous false gods (wooden statues, cows, trees, a black rock, etc.). Along with those false gods always come absurd superstitions, and the negative life consequences of being driven by superstition.
