StandUPMichigan event in Hastings MI today. Huge crowd....not a single mask.
“If you have ever had a dream about walking into TJ nude (or you actually did it), you would know how we felt.”
It’s apparently a Trill for “Dr.” Jill....
In Maskachusetts today, people were fully masked outside, shopping for plants...none of my employees or myself were masked. It was lame. A few normal people shopped sans mask, normal men who identify as men, and out of staters.
Well, I took the office out to BBQ the day after the mask mandate ended. The place had a sign in the door “Some Texans may choose to wear a mask, some may choose not to. Please respect everyone’s personal decision”.
So we enjoyed our BBQ, and yeah, got the side eye from a couple of people, but no one said anything.
Course, Houston is a bit more libertarian than some other places in Texas, so it may vary by location.
Publix and Winn-Dixie don’t require masks as of today in Florida for the vaccinated. However, they did not say how they were going to go about identifying those that are not vaccinated. It’s what they don’t say that tells you everything. This is been a hoax from the beginning
I am up near Tulsa, OK in a smaller town - since the governor dropped the mandate, the number of people wearing them has gone down.
Since April last year, I wore a face shield on a cowboy hat - only got told to add something to that once - one of the blue doilies by an over-excited nurse in an urgent care waiting room.
.
My daughter complained about the nurse’s attitude so much that she got a letter from the clinic, telling her to go elsewhere if she ever needed emergency care. Just WOW.
.
Now, if I wear that shield and hat, I am starting to get looks like “is that really necessary?”
.
Oh, and one more sign things are coming back - the local minor league team dropped all mask requirements for their customers.
We’re coming back slowly, but its happening, I think.
My gf went to the Mall of America today with a girlfriend of hers (it’s in Bloomington, Minnesota for anyone who may not be aware of its location) and early in the day most people were wearing masks (85% or so).
They were there for several hours, and as the day wore on she saw fewer and fewer people wearing them. No one asked her or her friend to wear one, or gave them the evil eye.
There may be hope yet.
Where are you in Texas? I’m in Houston, and from my viewpoint masks (and signs requiring them) are disappearing quickly!
I went into stores purposely without a mask since the beginning. I’ve never worn one except in freaking Walgreens. They’re total nazis. To this day.
I have had my share of people giving me grief about not wearing a mask and I gave it right back to them. Since. The. Beginning.
Now, when I see a person in a mask in any store in my state, I say loud enough for them to hear “oh look there’s a Democrat Biden voter!”
I wish you well but the wisest decision I ever made was leaving Minnesota.
Your average Minnesotan (yourself excluded) thinks they are the smartest people on the planet and yet they never go anywhere other than Vegas and Disney parks.
Even if I lived in Edina or near the lakes....I’d seriously consider leaving.
Its not going to get better.
I could go to Ulta even before Covid. Their overpriced crap it’s just that… Crap. Same with bath and body works. Both need to die
Rural Missouri town of 20,000
Our county dropped its silly mask mandate a few weeks ago. Before that, I’d say at least 85% of people in places like Wal Mart and Home Depot wore them.
Now that the local mandate is gone, it’s about 50/50.
TJ’s and REI are going to be the last to stop the “Karen Mode”
Last summer, both TJ’s and REI insisted people stand in line outside in 120 deg temp waiting to get in.
It was more likely someone was going to die of heat stroke than catch the ChinaFlu.
“I’ve never worn one except in freaking Walgreens. They’re total nazis.”
Walgreen’s also has 100% black actors in their TV ads — at least in this neck of the woods — when the percentage of the population is only 13-14%. Do blonde, blue-eyed people not spend money at pharmacies?
Because of this, we changed prescription dispensing pharmacy from Walgreen’s to a local vendor last week. Another FReeper mentioned that he/she had done the same.
What kind of business model shows it’s good to alienate the largest percentage of the population? Can Walgreen’s Board Of Directors think this is a good idea?
Yep, there are holdouts here too. They are a minority but I think some will be diehards.
In New Jersey, Trump voters are not allowed to wear a mask.
I’m in far western Colorado and mostly it’s the tourists wearing masks. Most locals are walking free. Some employees wearing them, some not, depends on the individual business owner. City Market Grocery, eateries (except small ones), stores large and small, Grease Monkey, Ace Hardware, local grocery, most people not wearing masks. It’s great. Mesa County.
lol! Good for you!! Excellent!
