It’s a fine line between peaceful protest, effective political movements, and total bedlam.
Letting the uncivil behavior get out of hand has never worked, yet crushing protest, doesn’t apply to anarchy?
Take the Romans for example, an antifa type group arises in the outskirts of Rome. The legions are assembled, the riot is squashed and any evidence is gathered, confessions are gathered, and any escapees or those harboring rioters are hunted down and either die or are executed in various ways (a type of gloating). Is that overreach?
Wheeler is afraid to trample on anyones rights, and his lack of action is leveraged by the rioters as weakness and exploited. Yet, Wheeler arbitrarily dumps all over his constituents and public servants while attempting to appease the mob, feels the leftest monkeybrained logic and a heightened unpopularity by the local dreadlock & poncho crowd and caves to the threat! Caves to the threat. That threat could have been extinguished at the first acts of violence.
Where is a good takeaway on this? Who rights are abused? And whose rights should be suspended in the process of shutting it down and releasing the dogs of war on the tattered remains?
Imagine being Ted wheeler, and being in a situation where it’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Frankly I don’t think we ever had it in him to do anything about anything, ever. He’s a non-performing politician, without substance.
