Seems that it would be safer to just use an Elephant type general tranquilizer, allowing the Vet time for those annoying samples. Maybe cost and labor are factors. There may be just too many camels running loose, that must be tested.
Too many to be rounded up, doped up and monitored for all that time.
Besides, the rumor is that a Kenyan would walk a mile to get away from one enraged camel. So there may be a shortage of available assistants.
