Inspector Mr Magoo said he checked it and it looked fine.
Spare the tape spoil the job.
Red Green
I wonder what part of the bridge it is located........................
Zoom into the larger photo and look at the dark spots, red spots on the bolts, shape of the crack, etc.—it’s all a 100% match. They are two pictures of the same crack. Not sure why you’re having trouble with this.
Just admit you are wrong.
Look for welders bright light.
Not without a helmet!...................
The more I look, the more I believe they are of the same fracture.
There are numerous road drain pipes to dump rainwater from the roadway to below the structure.
I must have looked at a dozen videos hoping for a local to post some interesting drone photos?
Nothing! But better looking at videos than weeding the garden and weed whacking the yard!
That is a large box beam guessing 24”w x 48”h???
Not only is traffic shut down on the bridge, but also below the bridge!!!
It will be fun to see what they come up with?
Most bridges are painted green genius and yes when they fail the cracks often look similar and occur just past the gusset plate. There are numerous other incongruities in the photos, but the question would be why they released a distorted stock photo when they have pictures from their drones? So yeah you clowns caught me. Where do I send your prize? LOL!
You are probably right, but the first photo is very distorted then and I still see incongruities.
Indeed
Safety first!... or you won’t last!..........
Safety last it’s the last thing you double check before starting something.
Someone pointed out earlier, if the failures are load bearing analysis will be needed on adjacent truss parts for closer inspection. I would like to think the bridge contractors already have the bridge design loaded into some type of analysis software that gives a ballpark figure for how bad it is. It will likely take a combination of computer analysis and visual inspections to come to a conclusion. Safety has to be priority one.
Watched Brazil again last week. Still holds up. A little dated and strange end, but Terry Gilliam shows why he became such a great director.
Does the out of control bureaucracy with lethal enforcement remind you of anything?
Just trying to jack it up could lead to immediate catastrophic failure, as could just welding it in place if that shifts excess load elsewhere. The beam needs to be jacked/lifted so that when the supports are removed the original load is restored and the beam moves exactly back to where it is supposed to be.
Ah yes “safety” the battle cry of leftists everywhere. You probably don't want to go there with me. Nothing is completely safe. The masks and lockdowns are a good example of safety at all costs. Risk is part of the human condition.
This part of the bridge was under stress obviously, but the trigger for the crack that resulted in a break was likely from an unusual amount of stress from factors such as settling in the bridge structure. This was probably exacerbated by a defect in the steel or some type of corrosion that made it through the green Zinc Oxide paint and created a weak area in a critical spot. These types of factors have a healthy dose of randomness that will rely more on visual inspection and testing than computer analysis.
Even though the paint they use on steel bridges always has a lot of zinc in it and the paint is designed for multiple applications it is typically more brittle than the steel. After 50 years places where the steel is flexing and are the same areas most likely to allow moisture to get into where it can cause problems.
Betcha Bite-me’s “infrastructure” blow out has no money to fix these road issues. The Dim party is dominated by car haters.
The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the Revolution....................
Just in time for that Infrastructure (social justice) Bill to get ramrodded through Congress.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
