New York has been taxing out-of-state telecommuters to in-state NY companies since at least 2006.
Way earlier. They had a NYC non-resident tax back in the 70’s.
Taxed as a resident, even though you didn’t live there.
They still have it for NYC employees, that choose to live outside NYC.
NYC teachers are exempt.
