Many years ago I had active arthritus, and was self injecting a drug to treat it with.
Used this drug for years with no problems.
The company I worked for changed health plans. New plan would not pay for this drug, but for a different injectible.
Shortly after starting this new drug, I had a stroke. I got lucky and made it to the hospital in time to minimize the damage.
My heart doctor and my vascular surgeon worked together to try and find a cause for my stroke. They prodded, ran camera’s up my veins, ultrasounds, cat scans... nothing.
They decided to do a procedure on my heart. This was a new procedure (it was done widely in europe) and after several weeks the insurance company approved pre op testing. I went for an MRI. I had blood clots in my lungs.
Both doctors then gave up and sent me to an oncologist. This woman was so thorough I was in awe of her. She found nothing. Then she hit the books, and discovered that the new drug I was taking had a very rare side effect. It could cause your body to start throwing random clots.
I discontinued the drug. Have not had a problem since.
No, I will not get the vaccine. I have no desire to spend another minute in the stroke ward.
Write a letter to the insurance company explaining that by not allowing you to continue the medication you had they ended up paying a LOT MORE.
Probably won’t help, but might make you feel better.
Remember,at least several people...maybe even a hundred people...die every day while getting out of bed in the morning. But about 330 million have little or no problem doing so (other than "oh,God...not *this* again!").
