Sorry I find that hard to believe. They had multiple listening stations from Manila to San Francisco and they couldnt pinpoint them? Seriously..

The Japanese left the usual radio operators back in Japan still transmitting. Each radio operator had a unique style that a good listener could determine. They could tell from where he was transmitting by triangulation and they learned which ships were where.
