LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said Sunday that his barn has been told Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit failed a postrace drug test, the latest doping scandal for horse racing and arguably the sport’s premier trainer.
Flanked by his attorney Craig Robertson in a morning news conference at Churchill Downs on Sunday, Baffert said Medina Spirit was found to have 21 picograms of the steroid betamethasone, double the legal threshold in Kentucky racing, in a postrace sample.

Where’s Hunter..
He also tested positive for COVID.
Stupid-ass horse. Did he REALLY think that the drugs wouldn’t be detected?
Can’t the trainer just blame this on Trump or on Climate Change? That works for pretty much everything else.
21 picograms? that is nothing, unless you are talking about LSD
So, what will the first tgree places be if Medina Crack Spirit is disqualified?
Wait!!! What color is the horse? Perhaps we can show some ‘disparity’ and get the accusation dropped.
With millions at stake, is it not beyond the realm of possibility that a rival - or a gambler - spiked the feed of a front-runner?
I think you have to be skeptical anytime some test says it is 21 millionths of a gram of X vs 10 millionths. Good God some dust particle with the stuff on it could have floated onto the test same.
I recall a Arab owned horse .
Baffert has been caught more than twenty times over his career. Once or twice, okay. Twenty times? Methinks he doth protest too much.
I’ll give you 1-3 odds on that.
He should have practiced keeping a safe social distance from the other horses like Secretariat in the 73 Belmont.
Do the exacta winners have to repay their winnings?
Here we go with another ‘race’ card being played.
BHA. Black Horses Matter.
Not being familiar with horse betting I’m wondering what happens to the payout’s? Have they been paid or are they held till drug test results come in?
Payouts have been done once declared official at the track.
They will haggle over whether to take away the crown and the winners share plus penalties for whomever they wish like suspensions.

My wife, a retired RN, stated the same rhetorical statement!
