He’s the one who, when the Detroit Police SUV was surrounded by shrieking BLM rioters who broke out the back window and pounded on the hood, ordered the officers inside to warn them twice and then to drive on slowly ahead.
One hysterical girl ran in front then, jumped over the hood, hit the hood on the way over, and rolled onto the asphalt. She claimed “police brutality” but lost.
Craig came under criticism last summer for the way police handled Black Lives Matter protests in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. Police made arrests and used tear gas in some instances, generating excessive force complaints.

Chief James Craig will be great for Michigan.
I wouldn’t presume that he’s running as a Republican. He’s probably just running as a moderate Democrat against the far left Whitler.
Too bad he’s retiring now; Detroit needs someone strong like him. I hope his successor is as good as he’s been!
