people make no sense...
I’ll summ it up easily for the mental midgets hanging around here...
They’re ok with me signing up for medicaid and letting the Hospital recieve... as someone above stated, about $400 for the 8K bill.
Someone else stated, That indeed the Hospitals charge me like that “Because they Can”
And the I said I will gldaly pay $1900...
And I’m the fkg bad guy!!??? lmao... what the hell is wrong with you people!!???
Yeah, you are the bad guy, You decided to take a risk. You now want to pay what you think is fair. Had you insurance, you would have paid less than 1900. What the hell is wrong with you?
When you sell the 10k of kite boards and put your adult responsibility above your toys, you can then say you have been not the bad guy. Shame on you
that $8k will probably become $10k or $12k after your indigent claim rattles around in the bureaucracy for 6 or 8 months.
so, when you finally puke up the $1900 that you pretentiously deem your emergency medical care to be worth, the taxpayers of Florida are taking it in the shorts for ANOTHER $4k because you won’t pay your damn bills, or satisfy the reasonable obligation as a citizen to carry health insurance so the rest of us don’t have to pay for your kiteboarding accident.
Sir we have a corrupt system.
If you were to sign up for Medicaid then the Taxpayer is paying the bill regardless of what it ultimately gets charged out and/or permitted under reimbursement. So Medicaid would not have paid $8000.
Now under a normal system where health care costs are about 3 to 5% of GDP you could have paid in cash and your bill would have been about $200, now that is fair.
Under the system we have of cost shifting nothing is right, all medical costs are out of Total Kilter and there is no sanity about it.
I can understand why people would rebel and refuse to pay a bill that is Unrealistic under any way you look at it.
The day is going where health care cost will have to fall, because we cannot afford to continue at 20% plus of GDP, wait till Interest Rates are finally forced up, in reality they real cost of money is about 8.5% and I am talking about Treasuries and the Prime Rate.
Key negotiating point”They’re ok with me signing up for medicaid and letting the Hospital recieve... as someone above stated, about $400 for the 8K bill.”
So when you speak to them again, if you do, bring up the point about the office folks asking you to sign up for medicaid. Ask them how much of the 8000 dollars medicaid would actually pay. If they give you a figure...say 900 dollars, tell them you’ll certainly agree to pay that amount and much faster than medicaid will write the same check for. It will keep your credit rating intact.
My daughter had to do the same sort of deal with a local hospital(she had no insurance at the time) where the bill was way beyond what she could afford. They offered her a bill at the amount that state medicaid would remit had she had medicaid in the first place...1400 dollars of a “53000 dollar” treatment bill. 1400 dollars! She went on a payment plan and paid it off.
