Here's a better analogy. The government takes over all the food production and declares that only those who vote Democrat can eat. You have a choice, right? If you don't get to eat it's your own fault right? If you eat but don't vote Democrat then you're cheating, right?
The government set up all regulation requiring hospitals to treat people who can not or will not pay. That's the government cheating the hospitals. The hospitals then try to pass this cost off to some of their patients. That's the hospital cheating their patients. You seem to think that is somehow fair.
1. The OP willingly engaged in a high-cost, high-risk leisure-time activity.
2. The OP was aware that he was living under a set of rules in which cash-payers are discriminated against vis-à-vis insured participants and scofflaws.
3. The OP acts indignant and shocked by the results, i.e., he feigns surprise and outrage, which he instrumentalizes to somehow justify his absconding without paying.
As I pointed out in my analogy above (with the Lemonade Stand), he knew (or should have known) what he was getting into.
Yes, it is a rigged system - it is certainly not fair. But we all know that, and should therefore attempt to pursue the least-immoral strategy.
