My theory is women protect the house by discerning character. Men do so by detecting breeches. It’s general but I think everyone has their talents and often these fall under gender specificity. Women being stronger in prevention than in the physical.
I do sense the humor in the I told you so comment. It is an unpleasant thing for people to do or to put up with but hard to resist the verbal dope slap when husbands act like dumbasses Sigh.
Inside every man is a 7 year old boy trying to get out. :-)
I do think you are right on, fwiw. But also something happens later in life, the roles switch. It’s an interesting dynamic. The man generally acts (and should act) as protector of the family but at some point that dynamic changes, and the woman becomes the protector and the man needs safety. I’m talking about the last maybe apx 5-10 years of life. I don’t know why - it’s probably just a social convention that developed over the ages (women tend to outlive men, and men at least in the past used to marry younger women, so women have to assume that role not only for their family but for their own future).
That wouldn't be the breeches of other men who have been visiting the wife, would it?
