What a bee-zarre concept. The article went on to say:

Researchers could then simply watch and see whether or not the bee stuck out its tongue to determine whether a sample was COVID-positive or negative.
. . .
Although the researchers boasted that “a trained bee can detect an infected sample within a few seconds”, the method is unlikely to replace traditional tests.

So, wonders I, were they using PCR test results to train the bees to detect infections? And by using how many cycles were those results determined to be Positive? And did the insects identify only the real Coof infections, or the False positives as well?

Un-bee-lievable!

In other news, yesterday morning in church while making his announcements, our Pastor made reference to Gov. DeSantis’ Executive Order, and announced that henceforth, masks in church would be “optional”, and no longer required. This despite the fact that the signs had been taken off the doors over a month ago, which had resulted in maybe 3 people besides myself not wearing them (and a “requirement” that I had always ignored). He said that each one should act according to his or her own conscience and not look down at others who differed.

But when he announced that, I could barely keep the huge wide grin off my face. I felt like pumping my fist in the air, but that could have been seen as too political, especially from my visible position up front with the other musicians (who are millennial mask dweebs when they aren’t making music).

The downside is that so far, three out of four in the congregation still chose to wear their masks (I surreptitiously counted). Oh well, it’s a start! The silver lining to that is that the determined maskers are mostly also “vaxxed” people, who won’t be able to spread their Coof-jab spike cooties quite as easily.
