Historical Clovis related story:
So this one time, in the Poh-leese Academy....
We was in formation, in our p.t. gear as I recall, and the Chief of Police for Clovis P.D. was our p.t. instructor. He was a notorious hard-on and unfamiliar with smiles.
One of my buddies, who I also worked with at the S.O. and went to Fresno State with, was this short, stubby. Barney Rubble lookin' mfky, with a VERY strong Chicago accent.
Funny as hell, too. Almost funny as me, and that's a very large number.
Anyway, there we were n formation, the Clovis Police Chief lecturing us about some cop stuff, when he asks us some question or other, I forget what.
My friend rocks back on his heals and say, "Clovis...its a way of life" with that goofy and exaggerated Chicago accent..
You ain't sposed to laugh in formation, but it couldn't be helped. 'Clovis, its a way of life' is the town motto or something. And that was the Clovis Chief. Get it?
Also, I was in the Academy with a hot lesbian I also worked with and was roommates with her. She introduced me to the wonderful world of lesbianism, which I had NO idea was even a thing at the time.
And no, I didn't convert her (though I tried). She was committed.
That lesbian later become the Clovis Police Chief.
The end.
