Authorities are investigating a Florida principal who was seen on camera paddling a student for damaging a computer. WINK reports the child’s mother recorded the video of Central Elementary School Principal Melissa Carter. It reportedly happened April 13. WINK reports the school called the 6-year-old girl’s mother saying she’d damaged a computer and that there would be a $50 fee.
The mother went to the school to pay the fee and was taken to the principal’s office. Her daughter, the principal and a school clerk were in the room. The mother said she began to get nervous, so she hit record on her phone.
She told WINK the principal “started to scream.” She is then seen paddling the little girl with a wooden paddle three times.
After the first hit, the child turned around crying with her hand on her bottom, and the principal said, “no, put your hands down” before swinging twice more.
“The hatred with which she hit my daughter, I mean it was a hatred that, really I’ve never hit my daughter like she hit her,” the mother told WINK. “I had never hit her.”

I’m guessing this child wasn’t the first to be hit and the legal cases will snowball now.
That's said, I got smacked around pretty good by the nuns from about 4th grade on. I totally deserved it every time I can remember but plotted my revenge anyway.
Whacker principal was a fat white woman. Looks like the school gal holding the kid down was white, too. Kid was blurred out. Her mother was Hispanic or Latina, did not speak English. Guessing the mother sensed what was coming but wouldn’t stand up to the principal and just video’d it.
Be very balancing to know exactly what the girl did and her general behavior at school.
The expected demographic for the location, but could happen at any school in todays education totalitarian culture.
Not gonna fall into the PC trap here - there’s nothing wrong with a properly administered paddling when justified.
Neither of them white. Look at the dreads on the principal, named in the WINK video.
Nothing a 6 year old could do would merit this— and it is NOT the school system’s policy. This may uncover a whole lot going on in Clewiston sugar country.
Tell It Right has NO idea of the context of the situation. He acts like the little girl deserves to be paddled because mom didn’t act fast enough. I would have stomped anyone who paddled my 6 yo but that poster IS a jerk who just wants to be snarky, completely forgetting about the child.
No, now we’ve moved to corporate punishment. Do bad things and you get punished by corporations like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.
So much wrong here.
No hatred. The snowflake mother who videoed her daughter getting paddled to win life’s lottery should be charged with child endangerment since she did not even try to intervene to protect her daughter.
And what the heck is a 6 year old doing on a computer when most of them can’t even read or write these days?????
why is the poster a jerk??
Yes believe it or not its legal in 19 states!!!!
The little girl just learned a valuable lesson about those lofty godlike persons known as ‘Educators’.
Are you crazy. No one touches my kids or grandkids.
1 -- The supposedly aggrieved mother was thinking ahead of time to record it -- suggesting some sort of premeditation.
2 -- The spanking was SOOOOOO BAAAAAD, the mother didn't stop it even though she was sitting right there.
That's without even getting into broader context like if this is the girl's umpteenth time in the principal's office or if they've had a rash of kids trashing the computer equipment. I'm basing it on just the mother's story, and the mother's story smells worse than Kamala after she interviews for a promotion.
Corporal punishment illegal in that Florida county. The mom did not speak “fluent” English.
The lady is some sort of immigrant and most immigrants are terrified of government workers. And for good reason. That she had the presence of mind to record what happened speaks well for her.
Hope to see the teacher up on charges. I also suspect the fifty dollars went into the teacher’s pocket.
Not in that county.
