The only reason employers can get away with this is because their employees have outstanding warrants, or they are illegal immigrants.

Everyone else would quit and go straight to Social Services for Food Stamps and unemployment benefits.

Also, the IRS pays a bounty to former employees who rat out corrupt bosses.

Also, employees can file class action lawsuits plus damages to recover lost wages.

No doubt, some workers get ripped off.

But, it is very easy to get legal assistance to fight back.

Marxists want a government form of feudalism, but some on the right want a private form of feudalism.

I would love to see some of you folks work for 7.25/hr and then come back after a year to tell us how great that experience was.

“These establishments often pay less than the minimum wage, require workers to work off the clock, or fail to pay overtime rates. In the most heinous situations, employers fail to pay their workers at all. “

and most all exploited by their own people... it it were white owned establishments, one call to the democrats and the owners would all be arrested before the sun went down for the nightly news propaganda

Today, driving down Maine Street in Ellsworth, Maine all of the help wanted signs show a starting wage of at least $14.00 an hour-for entry positions at fast food resturants. One offered $17.00 an hour, one a $2.00 per hour summer add-on, and other a $500.00 signing bonus.

...department cited about 8,500 contractors for stealing about $287 million from employees.

Or about 0.00000178482587 percent of the total wage bill (i.e., divide the loss by the total wages paid for that year).

Keep having this recurring dream about forgetting to punch my time card when I got to work. At the end of the dream I figure I lost thousands in wages by forgetting to do so over the years.

That job ended almost 30 years(and many brain cells) ago, btw.

That’s why it is foolish to show total loyalty to your employer.
Don’t get married to the company you work for. Always be on the lookout for better opportunities elsewhere.

Quit only after you have found another job. Always search for a better job. Don’t exchange marital vows with your employer.

Minimum wage isn’t what has to be paid: Minimum outlaws jobs below a specific wage.

Not all labor produces value in excess of that number, which means that if an employer paid that amount for such a laborer, he would be losing money. The minimum wage law doesn’t force employers to pay more money, it merely bans all those jobs.

the easiest group to rip off is low wage but a caveate on this. you pay for what you get and a employee who feels he is being cheated is likely to do the same on the job. criminal behavior from a employer is likely to attract employees that engage in the same ethical behavior.

That’s why it is foolish to show total loyalty to your employer. And don't have too much loyalty to your employees, or even your customers.

Don’t get married to the company you work for. And don't be afraid to divorce/sell your business.

Always be on the lookout for better opportunities elsewhere. Absolutely!

$7.25 an hour is too high
Anything more than $0 is too high.

It’s freedom.

Companies are having problems attracting people at or above the current minimum wage. Your solution is to allow companies to offer less. Good plan. </sarcasm>

You should study up on economics.

A federal minimum wage of $0 doesn’t mean that $0 is the minimum wage that companies would offer.

Do you really not understand how this works?
