Ooo, nice takedown Fireman.
My takeaway? Firemen are smarter than male nurses.
I have known lots of male nurses, some of them are good like the little asian guy at my doctors office, but others are full of themselves and not so good. My wife is a retired nurse and department head; she would tell you the same thing.
We knew one male nurse very well who was extremely outspoken and reminds me of someone else we are now familiar with...
My crew and I showed up on a hospice case who was on O2 and having difficulty breathing. The guy we knew greeted us at the door and started giving us a long winded report. Nurses have much more training than EMTs (emergency medical techinician) so we listened intently for useful info. While he droned on we put the patient on an O2 rebreather mask and he immediately was no longer having any issues.
So one of my crew members picked up his O2 canula (tube that goes to a person’s nose) and noticed there was no oxygen coming out of it. He thought maybe the line was kinked and he followed it back to the tank. The guage on the regulator showed that it had no pressure. We thought that maybe the tank needed to be changed, but I asked my crew member to check to see if the valve on the tank was opened. It wasn’t. This guy who we knew who was always telling us stories about how everyone else in the world was an idiot except for him hadn’t bothered to check if his patient who was on O2 was actually getting any before calling 911 for his patient who was having difficulty breathing.
I was a firefighter before going into the EMS Division of the Fire Department.
Get my resume right!
