Ok, it’s not common, not a lot of these birds but they are the ugliest bird.
Saw some early one morning, perched in a tall Douglas fir at Mesa Verde. One stretched his wings to warm them in the morning sun. Huge. Truly a magnificent sight. Now I know why the Indians called them Thunderbirds.
We have seen them a few times on pch up there they are frickin beautiful
Our buzzards are a close second.
