Because It has HIV spike proteins and with those the ability to infect any warm blooded animal with ACE2 receptors on it’s cells. How the spike protein got there is up for debate but no known natural cross gene transfer has been documented from an HIV type virus of human or simian form into a corona type virus this is the first documented occurrence. It however makes for a damn fine biological weapon vector given that this bug can infect and be harbored in every warm blooded animal in earth plus some bacterial forms and also reptiles and amphibians. The simplest answer is almost always the correct one. Thanks. I recently searched to see if I could find an image of the HIV virus.. I did a double take because first look, the image looked so much like COVID-19.. and yet the image of HIV virus was never promoted as is the COVID-19... the similarities are striking..
