I guess they have forgotten the lesson of Pompeii! Killer!
I'm not volcanologist but I thought it was the quiet ones that were the killers. The ones that build up pressure over thousands of years. The active ones that constantly ooze magma relieve the pressure and as a consequence are less 'splodey.
