I share your frustration. But there is a problem with allowing editing.
Let’s say I post a comment: “Trump was a good president.”
You respond: “That’s true.”
Oops. I made a mistake. So I edit my original post to read: “Trump was not a good president.”
Now it looks like you think that Trump was no good.
See what I mean?

Yup,I do...but that could be addressed by a time limit on edits. Also,the forums I refer to usually have a function where your post,if edited,says “edited”. But your point on “I didn’t say Trump was a bad President” is a valid one.

When I find that I have posted something with typos that I feel have affected the meaning in an inaccurate way or is just embarrassing... I just re-post with an apology. This seems to happen most frequently with Android devices using “auto-correct”.

That's not a problem if you write in complete sentences.
Guys there is zero legitimate reason not to have an edit function. Not having an edit feature does not turn this board into some kind of truth serum and It has certainly kept many people away.
