I remember a Mad Magazine take-off on Maude that had some funny gags that would have worked in the show:

Maude to Hispanic man: “What would you prefer to be called, a Chicano or a Mexican-American?

Hispanic man: “Well, like most Bolivians, I prefer to be called neither!”
