keypads emit the same tone on all keys, even on pin keys at the store for purchases. If they emit any at all. So he was obviously doing it another way. Lag between farther keys from closer keys maybe? One number key being a double tap same number? Or he didn't want to let on how he did it and is pulling the reporter's leg.
