thats becouse 30 years ago it was not seem as the cool thing and most coders had a hard math background. today scoring high on a videogame will get you in the door.

Well, nearly all CS programs require a fair amount of math (a least one year of calculus + stats + linear algebra).

The thing that surprises me is that most programmers have a low tolerance for BS. They also don’t cut failures a lot of slack. Hackers only like people who can hack it. Or at least it used to be that way.
