A couple fun facts about this song:
1. The sound of the drums comes in part from setting up John Bonham’s drum kit inside a stairwell.
2. The only thing that was recorded at normal speed on the finished track is Robert Plant’s vocals.

The bass part is really fun, has to be just right to make the overall groove work.

Conceited "rock critics" panned Led Zeppelin back in the day. But "When The Levee Breaks" is one of the greatest rock recordings in history.
This by far was not the only great Led Zeppelin track. Though I do really hate "Stairway to Heaven."
In Through The Out Door was the greatest Led Zeppelin album in my opinion - only marred by the awful "Hot Dog". Had that track been substituted by something like "Ozone Baby" from Coda, it would have been the perfect album.

Jayson Werth had the first few bars of Dazed and Confused as his walk-up music. It was perfect.
My favorite Zeppelin song is Ten Years Gone.
