When I was a kid, we were visiting my aunt and uncle in Yonkers, NY. My uncle took us to Jones Beach, on Long Island. While we were happily splashing around in the ocean (a novelty for us from the Midwest), a shark alert was sounded. “Everybody outta the wattah!” came across the P.A. system. We got out of the water like we were running on dry land. And I never went back into the ocean after that. Way prior to the movie “Jaws” coming out.
