Not only do you need a cell phone, but at first it’s public until you figure out how to make it private. Then you get all sorts of weird, “hey baby wanna meet” lol. Okay, not that blatant, but probably. I got some messages from stranger dangers..

I finally bit the bullet and signed up using my flip phone number. The very first thing I did was go to privacy and security and make myself as invisible as practical, even though I signed up with a very fake but punny pseudonym.
I’ve always done that sort of thing - maybe I’m overly paranoid - but on my tablet whenever I download an app, I first make sure any intrusive and unnecessary permissions, especially the microphone, are turned off.

When I downloaded the Telegram app, I took the advice of one of the channel people (I forget who, maybe GhostEzra?) and got it right from the Telegram site, rather than the Google Play store. For some reason that one was said to be the better version. Though I think I read it was not available that way for Apple.

All that being said, I am glad I did it. It makes it so easy to have all the interdasting Telegram channels all in one place on my PC, instead of taking up unnecessary space (and having to be searched for or needlessly duplicated) in my now 800+ browser tabs!

Oh yeah, and I can also see all the Teleegram videos now, and the PC app is nice and customizable, so you can have it look pretty much like you want it to.

Ghost Ezra posts seem to draw the largest of the stupid comments, kiddie fare for rabbit holes, but “Oh, well.”
Maybe they are self-learning.

Thanks for all the details; I am one primitif so I’ll just stick to reading whatever Telegram channels people link to that seem interesting. Time is short and one cannot know everything.
