Drudge report was how I linked over to GR back in 1997. I remember seeing FR back in the bbs days. I was surprised to see the link on Drudge, who was far ahead of the news cycle back then. Sad to see how his site went so far downhill.

It was through Drudge I found Free Republic back in 1997. On Drudge, the link to FR was called "Whitewater files" or something to that effect. I was looking for a site with all the latest on the Whitewater scandal and so that is what drew me to FR.
I was feeling fairly certain back then the Clinton crime syndicate would be fully exposed and with that, the demise of the modern Democrat party. I was wrong.

This is effect, not cause. Conservatives dropped Drudge long ago and the site analysts remove the links that users no longer click on.
