I know a horse that uses a jewelry scale to get precise dosages. He told me that having one that provides weights down to 10 milligram (0.01 gram) increments is best.

A good .01 milligram scale is only 20 bucks these days, too. They used to cost hundreds. Got one several years ago and it work terrific, haven’t even had to change batteries in it.
