My view is, the only people who want this are the hucksters trying to sell it to us.

I’m assuming by ‘this’ you mean an autonomous car, not the driver monitor feature. I don’t know. A car that can safely drive itself would really be something. There is already some demand for it as seen by how some idiots are willing to completely trust Tesla’s Autopilot feature.

We never got the flying cars we were promised well more than a half century ago, but we do seem to being on the cusp of self-driving cars. Would I trust my life to one? Hell no! I wouldn’t be comfortable to be in a car where the driver’s input is not part of ‘driving’.

On the other hand, I have no trouble imagining that the kids or grandkids of kids in school today will have no idea of how to ‘drive’ a car. My grandpa knew how to drive a steam locomotive as well as a team of horses, but I’d be clueless as to how to do either.

No one will need to own a car, it’ll be utopia!

People who drive inebriated really look forward to autonomous vehicles. So do johns who like to ‘do’ hookers in the back seat. Yeah, I want to rent that vehicle.
