There is a company that is making an alternative for Tesla’s Autopilot for cars equipped with adaptive cruise control and lane assist. It uses a cell phone’s cameras (not your cell phone, one comes with the kit) to monitor the road ahead as well as the driver’s eyes. If your eyes aren’t on the road or closed, it issues a warning. I would think Tesla could add this capability with little effort.
Toyota (the rumored partner for Apple’s car) is buying the autonomous project from Lyft. There’s also Google’s, various automaker’s, etc. My view is, the only people who want this are the hucksters trying to sell it to us.
