UK police tried to shutdown a party in the park because of "Covid". It did not go well.
A little backstory as to what lead up to the confrontation would be helpful. “Party” these days means anything from clinking champagne glasses to a full-on riot. That said, if the cops were trying to diffuse/disperse the situation instead of escalating it then they need to go back to cop school because that was just wrong on many levels.
The “Rivers of Blood” speech was made by British Member of Parliament Enoch Powell on 20 April 1968, to a meeting of the Conservative Political Centre in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
His speech strongly criticised mass immigration, especially Commonwealth immigration to the United Kingdom and the proposed race relations bill. It became known as the “Rivers of Blood” speech, although Powell always referred to it as “the Birmingham speech”.
The expression “rivers of blood” did not appear in the speech but is an allusion to a line from Virgil’s Aeneid which he quoted: “as I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding; like the Roman, I seem to see ‘the River Tiber foaming with much blood’.”[1]
The speech caused a political storm, making Powell one of the most talked about and divisive politicians in the country, and leading to his controversial dismissal from the Shadow Cabinet by Conservative Party leader Edward Heath.[2] According to most accounts, the popularity of Powell’s perspective on immigration may have been a decisive factor in the Conservatives’ surprise victory in the 1970 general election, and he became one of the most persistent rebels opposing the subsequent Heath government.[2][3]

Just as with Trump, Powell was betrayed by his own party.
It was ironic to see the police get kettled and pushed back this time.
The British commenters on Youtube suggest that the entire police action was done to generate video that would be shown on the news to make the party goers look bad.
The police there are apparently part of the new woke order.

I saw those comments myself after I put my question up; it would certainly take away from what appeared to be an otherwise "overwhelmingly peaceful protest".
