I think taking time to consider whether you’re getting your moneys worth for common expenditures, and looking at alternatives, is a good practice at any income level.
being able to differentiate important stuff from dumb stuff is also a good practice. wearing your lack of utility bills like some weird badge of honor is not a good practice.
declaring your TV to be guilty of crimes against humanity is likewise a poor practice.
